At a quick glance that 170 of Mad dogs sure looks similar to the 760 and 7600s. Who copied who?
The funny thing is that the Savage 170 is hole spaced and takes the exact same mounts as the 760 and 740.

Ok checked from 1984 to 1994 and found the 308 and 3006 carbines
35 whelen shows up first in 1988 and right through 94 but all 22" barrels and no mention of a carbine
Any other years do you want checked. Let me know
I stand corrected about the catalogs! I wonder where the heck I saw them listed? Would have been on paper back then cause we didn't have a computer and internet wasn't what it is today that's for sure.
Maybe a retailer put it in their catalog wrong - seen that done. Never seen demonstrable PROOF of ANY 35 Whelen Carbines listed for the public by Remington anywhere - ever.Would have been on paper back then...
MadDog that's a sweet little deer rifle. Carrying a classic rifle like that really adds to the hunting experience IME.

BTW - had one of those two sold at Epps last week in my hands today. Got the barrel stamp info also and was manufactured February 2011 I believe - but my year code lists are suspect - actual barrel code is LI.
