35 Remington

Any bolt action you can find a barrel for would be suitable.
Kind of odd that the M700 was chambered in .35 Whelen, but not the Rem. Such is marketing. The Rem M7 was from Remington's Custom shop too.

No offence, but why would you want to do a custom build on such an obsolete caliber?
I should talk, I have a 257 Ackley Improved custom on a VZ24 action.
To each his own I guess.

The 35 Rem has an oddball head size @ .458",...smaller than .473" bolt for the 308 etc.
The Remington Custom Shop did make the Model Seven in 35 Rem but obviously they had the proper size bolt face.
You might be able to get a Savage bolt head in the proper size.
Anything can be done with enough money but it would be easier to do a 358 Winchester as any 243/308 etc. action will work.

You would want a short action, but make sure that the bolt will handle the smaller diameter case head.
I suppose a .223 sized bolt face could be opened up, and the extractor modified.

I own and hunt with a Remington 600 in 35 Remington. If you could find one in that caliber that would be my first choice for a light package.
Otherwise a full custom is in order for alot more money. I also use a M70 FTW in 358 Win and this would be my suggestion for a custom build unless you really want a 35 Rem. I will say this, the 35 Rem has very little recoil when compared to the 358.
Good Luck

knock it off with the 35 already, I have a couple spare savage bolt heads that could be opened up pretty easy as they as they are ppc/7.62x39 bolt faces as is, a couple of donor actions, way more brass then I think I could ever use, dies bullets and time.........
