Howdy guys

I have a 35 whelen IMP on a 98 action. I was given a box of woodleigh 310 grn bullets.

What would I use for a starting load for my 35 using IMR 4320 powder?

thanks for the help

IMR 4320 is a good choice. With a powder of that burn rate, you're going to run out of case capacity before you hit the cartridge and gun's pressure limit, but since the bullet is designed for 1800-2200 fps, you'll likely exceed that before the case is full. I'd start at 48.0 grs and work up an accurate load from there.

First thing I'd do though is make sure your barrel has at least a 1:12 twist rate. That's a long bullet and it won't stabilize in some barrels.
