I have hunted several .35 Whelens for the past 25 years. Had very good results on elk with plain Hornady 250 gr. both the PSP and the RN loaded to 2500 fps with IMR4064, or RL15, or Varget. Never a bullet break up or failure, always good penetration. I especially like the discontinued Speer Grand Slam. Especially good if you like exit holes in big critters during the early season. Used that bullet for about 10 elk. Speer's standard 250 gr. PSP has a good reputation too, but I only shot one elk with it. I use my Whelens as dedicated elk / moose rifles so see no use for 200 gr. bullets. I suppose they would serve adequately for deer. The 225 Barnes worked OK for the one elk I shot with it.
