35 whelen

anybody ever heard of a 35 whelen A. P.?

I just picked up a p17 chambered for it and it is stamped on the bbl 35 whelen A. P., I was wondering if it is just a regular 35 whelen

It sounds like it MIGHT BE a 35 Whelan Ackley Improved. Shoot a normal round and check out the fired brass against an unfired one. That will let you know for sure. bearhunter

Cam, I just saw a post on this a few days ago (can't remember the details though, damn memory), but it was either here or on accuratreloading.com Maybe try a search both places. Seems to me it was an improved 35 Whelen, and the AP were the 'smith's/designer's initials. HTH - dan
