35 whelen

Ruger did build a special run of the Hawkeyes last year blued/wood & SS/synthetic. I bought 2- stainless synthetic's from Clay @ Prophet River firearms. I sold the first one and regretted it, so Clay had another and I bought it. They are great guns and will do 1" or so at a 100yds pretty easy. They also have a 1:12 twist rate. I actually just ordered a McMillan stock for mine. As already mentioned Remington does build a CDL in 35 Whelen. This is the only 2 that I know of. Both manufactures would be a good choice, and the 35 Whelen is just plane cool:cool:

Generally 35s are made in fits and starts by manufacturers - even their cataloged fare. So get em when you see em.

A few TC Encore barrels for 35 Whelen on EE lately. Don't know if that counts. What type of action is your preference?

And something to consider is that often the older ones were made better. So a vintage one in excellent condition could be the equal or even the better one. I've seen steel front sight ramps go to one piece plastic on the recent run (2010) of Remington 7600/35Whelens for example. I can give other examples too of the downward trend.

BTW Epps has a 700CDL new for 855.27 now. Ruger are not cataloging the 35 Whelen at present.
