350 legend. Who has experience with one

"Just had to fill the .35 cal hole in me safe. "

Good choice to plug that hole. I'm saving brass from factory loads but not sure if I will reload. Factory ammo is cheap, and I have never reloaded a straight wall case cartridge. Those are heavy hardcast loads, how much powder room will be left in that small case?

Should be lots of deer on the island to hunt with the new RAR.

I have decided to hold off getting my 350 until I play around with this new 300 blackout I just got. See if I’m going to keep it or ditch it befor getting the 350. I have 4 new rifles as of right now that all need to be shot and played with befor I go getting in to another one

The 350 Legend is a round that demands careful reloading techniques due to the headspacing on the case mouth along with a good knowledge of powder burn rates & pressures for reliable known safe loads. Folks running factory loads that ain't into handloading only have to try out some different offerings & pick the ones that perform well on game & shoot best from their rifles.

We lead tossin' folks prefer the fun of tailoring our loads to do the intended job whist minimizing cost and maximizing hunting & plinking enjoyment.

Lots of insightful info here.

I thought about cast loads in one when they first came out but decided it would never be as cool as a 45/70 or 458wm.

I've had 6 of each over the years and they were fun to hunt & do target work with fer sure. Now that I be an old koont that appreciates short, light & accurate rifles, the RAR based units I have in 450 BM, 300BLK & me new 350 L (That I got today.) shall suit me well for my purposes. ;)

I'll be soon reworking the sheet steel mag down to a 2 rnd capacity though to make for a proper profile fer huntin' & plinkin" use.

Folks getting a new RAR in 350 L will need to cut a bunch of unusable spring off of the spring stack to get the mag to function well without the follower putting
so much up pressure on the bolt that it binds. Just done mine & the rifle runs smooth and true as it should. I reckon that Duramag (The folks that make these for Ruger) stacked the spring to restrict a 10 rnd mag to a 5 rnd limit rather than going with a proper, low profile unit. Fookin' corporate shortcuts.

Why did you go with the ruger over the Winchester?

I like the platform & the way these buggers fit me. The Winchesters are button rifled which ain't the best fer cast boolits. I'll stick with Ruger hammer forged tubes as they have been great for me for years. CZ barrels be nice as well. Besides, I like to work out little puzzles in tinkerin' projects. ;)

Owned one of these rugers in 6.5 cm sold that a few years ago. And I just got another ruger ranch rifle in the 300 blk out. Going to be playing around with it and different loads to see if it has a place in my collection. I have never been a fan of these rifles just something about them but I can’t place what. But they seem to work and shoot straight I will give them that.
