I am looking to rent a 350WSM (specifically a 358/300WSM) finishing reamer to rechamber a 350RM. Anyone got one or any contacts of those who might?
My barrel has less then 50 rounds through it so the throat area should be close to "as manufactured" dimension (Ruger 77).

I can get a new one with removable pilot for 225 US from JGS. But since this is a "one off" project I'm trying to reduce the up front costs. Also the smith that will be using this reamer (if I find one to rent) is one of the top smiths in Canada. He is an expert in gun work but is older now and doesn't want to invest in any more reamers himself (I asked if he would split the cost of a new one) - references can be provided.

I will need go and no go gauges too.

Perhaps find a new smith? A lot (most) will willingly split the cost of a new reamer. May not so much if it's a specialized wildcat with little interest - like a 338-223, for example. Bt a 350WSM ought th be a good caliber to add to a collection of reamers

I'm committed to the 350WSM project and will be getting a finishing reamer and gauges from Dave Kiff at Pacific Tool and Gage I believe.

I probably will sell the reamer, gauges etc. when the job is comlete. A few have expressed interest in doin the same chambering. So I'm sure something agreeable and fair can be worked out to pass it along so others can use it. Details to be determined.

Got the 350WSM reamer this week with a go-no go 300WSM set from dave Kiff - Pacific Tool and Gauge. Reamer looks top drawer. I sent it away to my smith so he can work his magic with it. Its got a live pilot and is a "beaut" I think.

If all goes well I should have my 350WSM for load development in a few months - I hope.

I have been buying a few reamers and gauges lately from Dave Kiff(Pacific Tool & Gauge) and they seem top notch and he is fast to make them and get them to you with full spec diagrams.

Woo-hoo got my 350WSM

Got my completed 350WSM back from my smith. He dulled down the barrel and it looks great. He had to set the barrel back almost one thread so went one complete turn anyway. The reamer from Pacific worked excellent he said and was just what was needed.

He worked on timing the feeding and it now feeds reliably with both spirepoints and RNs interchangeably. Coal is 2.885". Ruger factory sucked at making it feed as a 350RemMag - sent it back and they couldn't fix it. Takes a real smith to do real work I guess. But in its new life as a 350WSM it feeds fantastically. Capacity is three in the mag plus one up the spout.

Overall a successful conversion it seems. I hope to send it out tomorrow on its maiden voyage to the range if the weather cooperates.

Will report back.

Eddy didn't take as long as I originally thought he would!:) Got pics?
Incidently, we here stories all the time about"one of the best gunsmiths around", etc.
This guy that Whenen B uses is the real deal, and has been a profesional gunsmith for more years than many have been alive.!

Update as promised above- I fired first experimental rounds today thru my 350WSM. Seemed fine. Just chronographing and inspecting brass today. Using ReL15 I got the following instrumental readings at 12 feet.

225 Nosler B.tips - 2803
225 Nosler Partitions - 2785
250 Hornady RNs - 2649

I'm just getting started! More details here - http://www.35cal.com/ruger77_350wsm.html
