351 and other Winchester sl's

yep do like them for some odd reason .They are robust heavy ,short ,well built ,.They seem to be either barely used or used hard ,have a few in the bin that are in the hard use category and all of then have the same issue Barrels are pouched 2 have ringing on the barrels and the others are just pitted and sewer pipes .

The mags for them seem to have become quite valuable for the people selling them ,but WGP sells a after market for 50ish so about a 100 savings if you can live with a longer mag

The Model 07 rifles are nice old rifles.I have one that I shoot from time to time.

Thanks for posting the link to the Patrol Rifle.

here is a what you can do if you have a derelict WSL rifle thats a bit past reasonable repair and barrel is also pouched .Have the barrel rebored to 44 cal and chamber to 44AMP and throat it.fullsizeoutput_1b5.jpg

The bolt head works as is ,the mag was a bit tight and just polished out a few thou and it smoothed out to feed nicely .
Had Ron Smith do the rebore /he had to make adaptors to hold the barrel so he has them now.
Was actually one of the easiest to convert labour wise .
The rest of the time was draw filing the rust out and repairing the wood ,with the cerakote its a nice looking carbine
Also have done 338-223 and a 30 carbine on 1907s and the 357 max on the other 1910

I have the nice .351 that I spoke of in an earlier post. Also have another old one in rough shape. At some point in time ,for some unknown reason ,some one saw several inches off the end of the barrel.Would like to get another original .351 barrel at a reasonable price, to put on the old rifle.

the 05 in the original 32wsl is actually easy to load for if the bore is good .Brass I use is starline 32-20 size up to 32/323 and load up with Hornady 170 gr #3235 and good to go .Brass needs no mods beyond neck sizing

That's what I thought. I read .401SL can be made from 7.62x39 brass and uses .41 mag bullets.

yes ,x39 brass either fire formed or multi die sized and .411 bullets sized to .406 -7. 41 mag dies can be used to load the ammo but should use the 41 lee FCD to crimp it
