Can anybody direct me to a retailer that may have some Winchester .351 rounds for sale? I have had the gun for a few years,(a family hand me down) and would actually like to utilize it for the deer hunt this fall.

Thanx, Big Buck

Given that nobody has responded yet, I would suggest nobody's seen any in a long while. As a long shot, you might try gun shows and such, maybe the Ammo EE. It had a reputation as pretty anemic anyway. If you're a handloader and think you might be able to find dies for it, PM me and I can send you data on turning cases from .357 Max brass.

According to Cartridges of the World, 12th edition", firearms haven't been chambered in that caliber since 1957. Sound like its one of those calibers that reloading is your only option in the long run.

Thanks for all the info so far. As far as Epps goes, I check out their website twice weekly and stop by the the shop four or five times a year and have had no luck at ll. In response to reloading, I have considered it but for the amount of shells that I shoot in other center fire calibers ( .303, 30-30), (only 30 of each per year), it doesn't make sense financially to rig up for reloading.

Well, it all depends on how much you want to use that particular heirloom. There's another alternative. Do you know anybody who does handloading? 30 rounds would not be a burden for a friend; the major problem, I suspect, would be getting the dies. With those and some brass, he could turn out your year's supply in an hour.

Pity when these old gals run out of fodder. My father had an 1895 Winchester in .35 Winchester. Be a great moose round but nobody has made it in generations.

I think I may have found some loose rounds as well as a full box of 20 during my last trip North a couple of weeks ago. I will be travelling that way in 2 more weeks and hopefully will have them in hand. Will let you all Know.

Well I finally made it North to pick up those rounds. A Dominion Box in pristine condition with 20 rounds. The original price for these appears to be $3.60 for the box. A far cry from the $2.50 per round which I paid. LOL. I also picked up 5 loose rounds. Thanks to all regarding the info. I appreciate the resources and info available at this website.

you can use 9mm luger dies to neck size those cases. Just be careful how you set them up in your press, so you don't crush them.

The biggest problem with the 351 SL rifles is that they throw the brass so far. It gets easily lost in the deep grass.

They bulge a bit if you make them from .223, but it can be done. I'm not sure about the safety, though.

I have brass and live rounds here for my (built in 1907) rifle, also 100 rounds of converted .357 Max.

I am loading the stuff with 151-grain plated 9mm slugs. Got a big tub of them at a gun show, don't need to load Nahpatrone '08 very often, so the old Winchester gets to eat them.

The cartridge actually still is listed by Winchester, so a Winchester dealer should be able to snaffle some for you. Worth a try, anyway.

@ATOM: you can make .35 Winchester from the newly-available .405 Winchester brass made by Hornady. Simple FL size job, with a trim, use a .358 slug.

Hope this helps.
