For anyone interested, last time I checked there is a .356 Winchester Model 94 AE. big bore lever action rifle for sale at the Cabelas Store in Winnipeg in their " gun library ". The rifle must be picked up in person, they do not ship rifles from their gun library inventory. As of now there are only 3 Canadian Cabelas stores that have a " gun library ", South Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Barrie, ON.

Issue is about the ammo. Winchester loads it 'seasonally' only according to Midway, Stateside. Ditto for the parent .307 Win.
Might be able to make brass out of something though.

I owned one when they first came out. Ammo was readily available and no different in price than any other standard calibre. Glad I do not have it any longer. It really burns me when these companies cut off manufacturing ammo because their attempts at introducing new calibres fail after a few seasons. Not everyone reloads or is interested in reloading. The one advantage of course to the AE 94 is the angle ejection allowing for a top mounted scope. Mine wore a Bushnell 1.5-4.5 at the time and was a nice short easy handling package for heavy brush.

I bought a very clean Big Bore in 356 a few years ago. At the time Prophet River had brass in stock, so I bought enough to last a while. I mounted a Williams sight , and I much prefer shooting it , than I do my Marlin SDT in 45-70.

Find me a 356 in Marlin and I'll be all ears......

Yes...me too! Thankfully I have kept my Win .375 / .356/ .307/ rifle & carbine 7x30 Waters, a Savage and a Marlin in .375 and stocked up on ammo years ago. 356 came with 300 rds and at a gun show few yrs ago I picked up 15 boxes of .307 @ $ 13 a box.

I love my 356win! Mine is a 94 Big Bore XTR that my father gave to me. He got it in a trade and couldn't find ammo for it and decided since I shoot a hell of a lot more than he, It should find its way into my safe. I am very grateful. I found 5 boxes of factory Winchester 200gr at Wholeslae a couple years ago and bought them all. Gave me 100 rounds and 100 pieces of brass, and I havn't seen ammo or brass since. But as I said, cases can be made pretty easily from 444 Marlin. Great guns if you're a lever fan and looking for a little more punch than the 35 Rem.
