I recently just picked up a Marlin 1894 Lever gun in .357, anybody have a good load recommendation and MORE importantly where does one find projectiles in Canada. They seem more scarce then the rifle.

Thanks, Irish

Campro projectiles are good. Tesro.ca has two weights in stock. Tenda (gotenda.ca) has three weights of Campro in stock. Would guess other site sponsors also have Campro.

Some reloading manuals have two sections for 357 Magnum - pistol and rifle. Lyman 48th has separate data, the rifle test firearm was Winchester Model 94AE.

A lot of useful information already. I would add Cactus Plains Ammunition, as well as Bullet Barn and DRG, to the list of lead bullet suppliers. A good online source for load data: Hodgdon Reloading. Plenty of info for .357 (and .38 Special....another avenue to explore) loads. Well worth a look.

Thanks for the replies I really appreciate it. Ordered some 158 gr cameras yesterday and will pick up some of those Hornady today.

As I want this little rifle as a by the back door gun in remote BC those Hornadys sound perfect.

Thanks all

Campros are great. they did full house magnum handloads too and didn't come apart out of my henry.

I have pushed dozens of different plated bullets from Berry's and Campro over 2000fps with no issues. Don't overdo the crimp and it's nothing to worry about.

I assume this was meant for me but I don't think you are following what I'm talking about. If you can find the 200grn XTP woodchopper is talking about then there would be some relevance. As I clearly said, I saw that on Hornady's website.

Campro has Load Data on their site for a lot/most of their bullets.

Only bullet I've have issues with in my Marlin 1894c 357Mag/38Spl was 158gn Lead SWC's, they did not cycle very well.

You're right, my bad. I apologize.

The Marlins will shave lead on bullets with sharp driving bands or like semi wad cutter. They catch on the top of the barrel, shave lead, build up in the guts of the action and jam.
Round nose flat point are used by cowboy action shooters for good reason. Truncated cone will work, try them to be sure your rifle will.

Campro is a plinking bullet. It is not an expanding bullet and may be neither adequate, nor legal for hunting. That said, it is an excellent plinking bullet.

I'm not calling you a liar but I cannot find any trace of that bullet, anywhere. Hornady's site shows the relevant XTPs stopping at 180grn. Google has nothing at all, only the FTX. Weird.

ah my poor memory you are correct 180 grn XTPs in 357

I got 200grn stuck in my head as I use that weight in my 300WM and 325WSM
