Have a couple of questions please, for those in the know......

Can a Pedersoli baby rolling block rifle in .357 mag be reamed out to .357 maxi, and be SAFELY used in this caliber?

What is all involved with reaming the chamber for the maxi cal?

Thanks.

A Pedersoli Baby Rolling Block should be 0k. Max .357 Mag loads can run close to the same pressures. Muzzle flash and blast would be interesting. Mind you, the Maximum was made for handguns so it can't be that bad.
"...involved with reaming the chamber..." Find a smithy who is willing to rent the reamers. Don't even think about letting him buy one for a one time job. You pay for it and don't get to keep it.
Find ammo, brass and dies before you do anything else.

The 357Maxi, was chambered in revolvers. It caused enough gas cutting of the top frames to make the revolvers unsafe for use.
The cartridge was relegated to single shot pistols, like the Thompson Contender.
It would also be a fine cartridger for a lever action such as the model 94, it's to long for the 92.
I have a large action Martini chambered in one. I use regular 158grn soft points for deer in the cedar brush down on the creeks. The deer don't seem to notice it's a handgun cartridge. I'm going to load it with heavier bullets, maybe 250grn. There is enough case capacity to make this a pretty potent round.

Del Selin's, in Vernon BC, has the loaded ammunition as well as brass.

As mentioned above, be prepared for some wicked muzzle flash from a shorter barrel.

I like mine on the Martini. I can't comment on the baby Pedersoli though. I do know of another one that is built on a small frame martini (thin wall) and the owner complains it has to much recoil.
I also have another martini with a small frame but thick wall, that is made up in 357/25Maxi. It's just the 357Maxi, necked down to .257. The pressures in this cartridge are up in the 45000+psi range. Any higher and the cases split.
I hope this helps a bit. Pedersoli rifles have come a long way over the years. Rolling block actions are quite strong BUTTTTTTTT.

Not sure what they rate the baby rollling block for, but I inquired a while ago about the Sharps and Rolling Blocks in 45/70, and the reply back from Pedersoli's rep was that both actions were good to 28,000 psi.

I have a 357 mag Handi rifle I would like to ream to 357 maximum.
Does anyone out there know of any gunsmiths who would rent out
or do a ream job with a reamer they already have?
