The 357Maxi, was chambered in revolvers. It caused enough gas cutting of the top frames to make the revolvers unsafe for use.
The cartridge was relegated to single shot pistols, like the Thompson Contender.
It would also be a fine cartridger for a lever action such as the model 94, it's to long for the 92.
I have a large action Martini chambered in one. I use regular 158grn soft points for deer in the cedar brush down on the creeks. The deer don't seem to notice it's a handgun cartridge. I'm going to load it with heavier bullets, maybe 250grn. There is enough case capacity to make this a pretty potent round.
Del Selin's, in Vernon BC, has the loaded ammunition as well as brass.
As mentioned above, be prepared for some wicked muzzle flash from a shorter barrel.
I like mine on the Martini. I can't comment on the baby Pedersoli though. I do know of another one that is built on a small frame martini (thin wall) and the owner complains it has to much recoil.
I also have another martini with a small frame but thick wall, that is made up in 357/25Maxi. It's just the 357Maxi, necked down to .257. The pressures in this cartridge are up in the 45000+psi range. Any higher and the cases split.
I hope this helps a bit. Pedersoli rifles have come a long way over the years. Rolling block actions are quite strong BUTTTTTTTT.
