Sorry, but I’ve never heard the term gas check roll crimp.Cardboard wad over the powder and sealed with a gascheck roll crimped. We had a final shoot with an old friend using our muzzle loading shotguns. He requested to have his ashes to be shot out onto the range.
Maybe a thin cardboard wad, sealed with some paraffin?
BTW, this seems to be a fitting send-off for a gunny.

The plastic shotshell capsules would hold a more useful amount of ashes. Use a little bit of very fast powder, like Bullseye or TiteGroup.
