357 maximum data needed

From what I understand for pistol rounds in rifle is that what works in handguns shoud be good in rifles with an increase in velocity due to extra barrel length. I am no expert but what I have read elsewhere. Sounds like a fun rifle.

Yeah,
I know the pistol data is safe in the rifle, but I was hoping to find "hotter" loads safe for a rifle. Similar to the rifle vs pistol data for the 357 magnum.

I guess it is going to be go by feel. What rifle are you shooting?

A factory Ruger #1 in 357 magnum. I found out from ruger that they chambered some of them (mine included) to accept 38 special, 357magnum, and 357 maximum.

way back when I had a .357 max. TC Contender carbine I used Winchester 680, and Speer 180 gr. flat points designed for the .35 Remington. Sorry I can't remember the charge or the velocity, but it was equivalent to 30-30 power level. I would suggest that you try Accurate 1680 and maybe Lil'gun.

A little off topic but my favourite load is 296 20 grains with a 125 grain full metal jacket. Big boom and still to spec... Look up the load yourself because you can go 2 grains higher but I find 19-20 grain plenty of kick and it is kinder to my rifle.

It would likely be going 1800 out the barrel

By the way my load of 20 grains of 296 pushing a 125 grain full metal jacket kicks like a mule and produces a very nice flash out of my 16 inch Rossi. I'd be too nervous to use them in a handgun. I just shot a few yesterday and put on a fireworks show :)
