357mag and Lee classic turret press

Started loading 357 case with classic turret and lee deluxe pistal die set.
Instrustion state clearly when adjusting expanding powder die they ask to srew die in untill it touches shell holder then back out 1 full turn and tightening lock ring. The problem I am having is that it is buckling the case very badly. Almost have to back out die 2 full turns for this not to happen. Am I missing something in the instructions?

No, you're not missing anything.

I take it you have the 357 mag/38 spl deluxe dies.
The instructions are based on the shorter case length, the 38 spl. All of your dies will have to be tweaked a bit for the initial adjustment. Provided you're not doing both 357 and 38's, this should be the only time you have to adjust them.
