358/338 Win Mag

Anyone have one of these? Do they make a chamber reamer for it and dies? Or do you have to go to the 358 Norma? It would be easier for brass is all, 1 step vs fireforming 338 to 358 Norma.

I neck 338 brass up to 375 cal in one step through the sizing die, but I do lube the inside of the necks well.

You should be able to go to 358cal with no problems.

I made a dummy round for one once. That is about all. Brass would be easy no doubt. Wouldnt it be possible for a smith to just ream out a 338 sizing die with the chamber reamer, then replace the expander ball with a 358 expander? Then simply use a universal seater.

Just thinking out loud though. Sounds fun.

Physically? The brass is a little shorter if memory serves. ballistically? There is no difference. - dan

Slightly shorter case, slightly less powder capacity, slightly less velocity, no difference on game.....big difference when it comes time to sell the rifle!

Build a 358 Norma, neck up your 338 brass, and load. You don't need to fireform, just go hunting.
