Wondering it anyone has had experience with a 358 barrel on a m-14/M-1A/305 or AR-10 platform.....an ultra reliable 358 firing 250grain bullets would be my goal....thoughts?

intrested in this as well. I love the 358 win. my dream is to rebarrel my savage 99 in it. but a nice wood stock hunting m14 would compliment my Rem 81 in 35 rem nicely.

it would be wayyyy simpler to build a 358 on an Ar10 type platform.... modern hunter, bcl102 and stag-10. Reason being that it is much simpler to manufacture an AR10 type barrel compared to manufacturing an M14/M1A barrel. I quested for years to have an M14 barrel made in .338 federal ...... got so close with mcgowan I could almost taste it and then they tossed the project. After the effort I put in to make that happen and the embarassment due to mcgowans let down...... I gave up on getting custom calibers done for the m14 and find I'm not having those issues with building my stag-10's. I've already been assured by several sources that .338 federal and 7mm-08 will be a walk in the park to aquire.

I've known about the wolfe barrels for awhile now but after the initial release I have not seen them actually availlable for purchase. At the time when John released those, it was a set number of barrels he had to get made for criterion to go ahead with the project. There were quite a few folks on m14forum who pretty much snapped them up before they were released from what i remember. When I enquired at the time , they were not availlable for export. It's been many months since i gave up on my many year quest to build a .338 fed M14 similar to the Border Ruffian M1A build.
I should be shooting my .338 federal stag 10 before spring ;)
