Wanted to Find .358 Win top loads H322.
Gun = Pre 64 m70 FWT 22" barrel.
Win .358 headstamp brass
CCI 200 primer

I'm working up a 225 gr. Nosler Part with H322. I'm getting 2250 fps with 43grs H322. No pressure signs, dies set to headspace on shoulder. Primer edges still round, tight pockets after 3 firings, sd=20 fps. No change in fired case expansion measurement in front of head different from lighter loads.
Hodgdon lists 43 gr. max
Speer #11 list 45 gr with 220 gr. bullet & 43 gr. with 250 gr bullet.

Question:
Any other max load sources for H322 & 225 gr?
How far is it safe to go??
Replies.

Every firearm is unique unto it's self, diffrences in head space, and component lot to lot variences often make published data just a rough yard stick to follow.
Keeping that in mind, one must also remember that overt pressure signs as the ones you eluded to, often do not show up till your often 25% over factory design pressures.
From Nosler all powders listed are slower than H332,
Barnes #3 lists from 41 to 45 grains with the original 225gr.XFB
No mention of H332 in Sierra's 3rd Edition.

With your barrel length one would suspect close to 2400fps would be obtainable, but with keeping that in mind it is potential that you could just have a "slow barrel"

I'd try 43.5grs and then 44grs. and do about 4 loadings on each set of cases, respctfully to see how things hold up in time. If the velocity remians too low, try another powder like 4895, Varget or IMR4320.

Thanks Lefty

Thanks Lefty.
That is the type of info I was looking for and some assurance as well as a confidence booster.
I'll post how I make out.
