35gr v max in 223 rem

Anyone try these in a 223? If so what powder worked for you? Hodgdon site has 36 gr I guess close enough to get an idea on what powder and load but sometime personal experience cuts out a lot of playing around. Thanks
 
35gr v max in 223 rem

That sounds like a bit of a light weight for a .223; I shoot 40gr out of my .222
I suppose it's OK but it just surprised me a bit.
 
I tried them in my Savage. Once you get them up to meaningful speed, they start to fly apart. I think they were maybe designed for 22 Hornet velocities.
 
"...Hodgdon site has..." Yep. One grain of weight won't matter.
"...22 Hornet..." Uses a .223" bullet. The .223 uses a .224" bullet.
 
I tried these 35 Vmax in the 22 Hornet and the 221 Fireball. They shoot great at 100-150 yards. They really start to open up the groups at 200 and over. The short stubby bullet has a lousy BC and strts to drop wuite quickly. I found the 40 Vmax or Blitzkings much better in the Hornet, 221, 223 etc.

The 35 Vmax does work well in Trail Boss low velocity loads in the 22 Hornet and 221 because they open up on gophers very well, even at low velocity.

I use the 40gr v-max in my own 22Hornet,and it groups well at 200 yards,with a flatter trajectory,and less wind drift, than the 35gr v-max.
