35whelen equivilent

"...milsurp rifles were those 9mm and 9.3 mm rounds chambered in..." None. They're European hunting cartridges that aren't easy to find ammo or brass for and are expensive when you do.
"...used to load factory 220's in 303..." 215's. I don't think they're still available either though.
"...35 Whelen is 9mm..." It uses a .358" bullet. Makes it a .38. snicker. The 9.3mm X 57mm uses a .366" bullet.

Actually the 9mm Mauser and the 9.3s were chambered in a variety of mil surp rifles that were sporterised between and after the wars. Neither were issued calibers, however. Woodleigh and Steve Redgewell here in Canada both make heavy 303 bullets still. The 8mm-06 is a very good round, the 8mm-06 AI even better. - dan

What milsurp rifles were those 9mm and 9.3 mm rounds chambered in? I'm pretty sketchy on Mausers.

None - These are mostly pre-war hunting rifles based on the '98 Mauser action. Very nice and available at good prices - it's that ammo that's problematic; although, I lucked-out and picked up 20 rounds of 9mm x57 Factory Winchester (WRA marked) rounds at a gunshow last Sunday for $30.00 :dancingbanana:

PS: The 9mmx57 uses a .356 dia bullet - Almost a .35 cal

I just checked an old box of Imperial CIL 303 ammo, thought it was 220g but it does say 215. Not hijacking thread, was just going to post pic of the box but it's such a pain...
