Fair 36 gauge sxs arrived this week waiting on the 28 barrel set. Baby frame with 28 inch tubed barrel sets weighing 5.5 lbs. Fair got it right even with the light weight the balance point is spot on for me swings like champ not wippy. Not a fan of choke tubed sxs but with this one the barrel conture is near perfect no a big bulge like most other makes. All steel gun the wood more than nice and fit and finish is near perfect. Got 3/4 oz loads for the 36 and 7/8 loads for the 28 ready to go. looked long and hard at Fausti , Rizzini and others settled with no regrets on the Fair set. Thanks Iron Cat. Will try to get some pics up.

What's your 3/4oz load consist of? I've been playing with the idea of loading 3" shells and upping the weight and see how mine pattern
Lyman 5th addition I use Rem SP hull, Win WAA41 wad not easy to find, 8.5 or 9 hard shot shake to get it all in larger shot size will not fit. Not a fast load but with full and extra full chokes reaches out and ink balls targets with my 686 Beretta. Tricky to load with that payload but if done properly it works well for me,

So the 36 gauge, is just another way of saying a .410.:)Am I right on that?

The way I understand it is that the original 410 guns had a bore the same diameter as the chamber to accommodate large round balls so it took 36 lead balls of that diameter (.410 inches) to make one pound. When makers reduced the inside diameter of the barrels the same way they do all the other gauges it then took 67 lead balls of that diameter to make one pound. .410, 36 gauge and 67 gauge, they are all correct.

FAIR makes a nice gun Warzaw, congrats on the purchase!

So what is the dia. of the barrel of a .410 these days? Also I thought the dia of a 28 gauge gun was .550.What is the dia. now?

The nominal diameter of a modern 410 shotgun barrel is .410 inches and the chamber diameter is approximately .480 inches. The 410 designation is caliber rather than gauge like the other shotgun designations.

A 28 gauge shotgun does have a nominal bore diameter of .550 inches and as far as I know that hasn't changed.

A buddy of mine has a 32 and 24 set. Neat Lil cartridges nice Lil gun but my sickness isn't mad enough to make me order one....yet
I am crazy aso but I draw the line on 32 and 24 gauges limited components can't play around enough with them to satisfy my addiction. But i am not stable and have been known to change my mind.
