Has anyone had any experience with the 375/300 Win? Seems like a great way to build an excellent big bear rifle by simply rebarrelling a 300 win., without having to go to proprietary cartriges or magnum length actions. I've been considering this build, but its always nice to hear from someone who has some experience firsthand.

I have used two 375-300 Win Mags, one on a SAKO and the other a 700 Rem. Easily walks away from the 375 H&H, and still housed in std length action.

Forming brass was a piece of cake. One pass through the FL sizing die and go.

The Ruger Alaskan in .375 Ruger would be cheaper and faster to get than either a custom .375/.300 or .375/.338. Unless you are looking for a project gun I think that would be your best option.

If the Ruger has a failing it is the small magazine capacity (compared to a magnum Brno or CZ), and lacks the mounting options to get the scope far enough forward, IMHO. Unless you build on a M-17 Enfield the magazine capacity probably won't improve with a custom rifle, and Burris sells a Ruger to Weaver adapter that provides the option to mount the scope slightly forward.

I've had both the 375 Chatfield {338/375} and 300/375
Both are capable of duplicating 375 H&H factory ballistics with 270/300gr bullets. Both were built on Ruger mag actions. Accuracy was equal with loads that grouped sub MOA with hunting bullets.
