Just looking for a little info on this cartridge, how it compairs in the family of 375s very little info came up with a search, I only know its a 300 H&H case necked up. Any way any info is better than I have.

The Epstein is essentially a 300 win necked up to 375. That's not how the original was developed, but that would be pretty close.

It is shorter than the 375 H&H, longer than the 375 Chatfield-Taylor.

There was a very comprehensive article on this cartridge, which was developed by Mike Epstein, a proffessional ball-player, quite a few years ago in one of the gun mags.

As far as performance, I used a 375 Chatfield-Taylor for a few years and it easily duplicated standard 375 H&H ballistics. The Epstein has more case capacity so should be even better.

looks like a 375 Ackley with a 25 degree shoulder instead of 40 degree...and maybe a bit less taper...

checkout the 375 AI data...

It's shorter though, almost a 375/300 win mag but not quite.

Looks like it was made to fit a std action, not sure why

Well the only info I can come up with in looking at ballistics is that a healthy dose of IMR-4350 will rocket a 300 grain slug into the mid 2800 fps.

Sound like a neat one if the price is right.
And yes can comfirm you mak this brass with a 2 set die out of a 300 wm brass

does indeed sound warm. Id be hesitant to load 300 grainers much past 2650 fps myself, if case capacity is close to that of the H&H

Start with 375 H&H data, and work up. 375 wby is essentially an improved 375 H&H - probably a bit bigger then the Epstein. So your load data would fall midway between the H&H and the 375 Wby.

I Have Mr. Epstiens write up on his creation at home.
Send me your email and I will send you back the article.
He was duplicating and exceeding factory 375 Holly velocities in his
Savage 110 with all bullet wieghts.

Exactly! My 375 Wby is a solid 2800 fps with 300 gr partitions, and it has quite a bit more capacity than the Epstein.

Yes i agree I was looking at a load developed by Epstein showing IMR 4350 at 77g showing a velocity of 2810?

But it does look sharp!
Just looking for anything I can find , not a very popular cartridge.

Thank you all

Both the H&H and 375 Wby have lots of published load data available, I'd start there. But as the wby is a larger case, I'd stop before I get that high.

Don't start with a target velocity, that could be bad news. Start low, and work up to (maybe) 90% of the wby load, and then see how fast it's going.

Also, As a rule, load data developed by wildcatters tends to be very hot - often dangerously so, so don't start there, or even plan on ending there.

Jason,

You don't have to load it up to top velocity. :D

If you can get the rifle for any reasonable price at all, I would buy it. The 375s are great game cartridges and can be loaded down to pussycat levels and still produce both wonderful accuracy and oustanding performance on game.
