I have all the pieces to put together a 375. Action, stock, bottom metal etc. but I do not have a barrel. I want it stainless, and ideally finish at .650 at 23". I'm getting a little push back (we have only spoken briefly) from a barrel maker and am curious about opinions on the subject here. Thanks.
375 H&H barrel contour?

A #3 sporter barrel has a muzzle diameter of about .630" and the #4 about .670". The difference in weight is about a half pound. A #3 in .375 is minimal for caliber, but should be doable; but if the barrel maker is reluctant to go that light, he likely has a reason for it. Perhaps a fluted #4 would be an acceptable compromise, where the barrel wall of a .375 #3 is too light to be fluted. Ron Smith made an unfluted 22" #3 .375 for my .375 Scoville, but I don't have it in hand yet.
Boomer Ron makes gain twist barrels are you trying one of those or staying with a SAME twist barrel ? RJ
.650 muzzle is adequate for a .375 caliber.... but the taper back should become a bit heavier... a Model 70 Featherweight contour would be too light. Why such a small diameter? the big bore is going to be light to start with... I think about a .725 muzzle looks better...

Seeing your comment, just out of curiosity I checked the measurements of mine at the muzzle. My H&H is 0.730" and the CT is 0.685"
My current 375 has the same barrel profile and is atrociously heavy.

That it is. My 375 H&H is a Winchester Super Express, empty with scope and sling, it comes in at 10lbs 5oz. 
The lower one, a custom Remington 700 in 375 CT, as you see it, is 9lbs 3oz

All 3 barrels for my switch barrel are #3 gain twist. I've been shooting the .243, and put 3 in 1.5" @ 300, with a load made up for an older rifle that I no longer have. Not too shabby for a #3 sporter, and makes me feel better after some pals assured me that a gain twist wouldn't shoot. This one is a 1:14-7. I hope this level of performance continues once I work up loads specifically for it.
