.375 H&H magnum?

I think that I need a .375. I am after a controlled round feed style. $1000 is my budget for the rifle without glass. What do you guys think? Remington 798?? Ruger?? Let's hear the opinions, please.
 
+1 on the CZ550. I shot half a box through my friends at the range and I loved it. Accurate and it handles well. I may very well have to buy it off him,
(as soon as I convince him of how he doesn't need it anymore)
 
If you can ever find one go for the Brno zkk602 with a pop up peep. I had one that shot as well with the peep as the scope.Great if scope screws up. Am still looking for another ( should never have sold the brno!! sob..sob ) JITC
 
Some of the earlier 602's had the pop up peep, but not the later ones. This is of less concern now that NECG makes such a nice aperture for the CZ-550. The dovetails remain the same as the 600 series so fitting is no problem. $1000.00 should be in the ball park for these rifles. The CZ550/Brno 602 normally shoot MOA with good ammo.
 
My CZ 550s both shoot, or at least both did until the .375 started showing it's mileage. The .375 was a little picky about bullets, prefering those that could get at least somewhat close to the lands. Most, if not all .375s are throated for the 300 grain roundnose so some of the pointier bullets will have a long run at it.
Recoil in a CZ .375 is suprisingly mild, less than my Remington that weighs the same. Balances better too.

just got a sako 375 at Calgary gun show and a winchester mod 70 375 in the mail from gunnutzs. Went to get brass today none aviable. Was at new gun shop in town seeing if he could get brass and his father said that he had five boxes of brass at home and that he would give them to me as he didn't reload . I get to try them out now yea!:dancingbanana::dancingbanana::D:D
why get one when you can get two. The X usto have a problem with that

Well, I've had my old Browning Safari 375 since new in the '60s and I sure as heck can't live without it....filled the freezer too many times and never let me down...:D
 
you're not going to find a Ruger H&H for $1000

used BRNO 602 will most likely be the least expensive route, unless you can find a Model 70 Classic
 
The price new for a Ruger RSM in 375 H&H will be closer to $2K than $1K. If you want a 375H&H for $1K, then the CZ 550 is the way to go. On the other hand, if you want a Ruger rifle chambered in a 375 calibre cartridge for $1K, then looking at one of their rifles chambered in the 375 Ruger is an alternative.
