roch chucker press with redding dies.

When adjusting the dies to the shell holder do you tighted a quarter turn after they contact like in the speers manual for full leagth or leave a gap?

when nech sizing do i use lube still, why?

Neck sizing with an FL sizer die is a trial and error thing. You adjust the die up until only the neck gets sized. Usually easier to adjust it down though. You still need to lube.

I just bought a neck sizing die (hornady)and tried it for the 1st time. The shellholder did not touch the die and I did not use any lube.Much easier than FL sizing! Hope this helps.

There is an inherint problem with neck resizing (opposed to full length resizing) a bottle neck case, and that problem is a difficulty to chamber the loaded round; even though the fired case comes from the same chamber. Many hardened accuracy nuts have come to see the benefits of bumping the shoulder slightly to allow for ease of chambering. Using a full length die to neck size is a compromise at best, in that when neck sizing is preferred, one does not always wish to resize the entire length of the neck, but with a FL die, you can't bump the shoulder unless you do so.

A better solution is to obtain a neck sizing die and a body die as sold by Redding. This allows you to partially size the neck then bump the sholder in a seperate operation. Another option is to have a gunsmith cut you a custom die from your FL die which allows you to resize a portion of the neck and bump the shoulder just enough to allow easy chambering, in a single operation.
