375 H&H Roll Crimp or Factory Crimp Die?

Hey Guys,

I'm loading myself some 375H&H hunting loads. I'm using Hornady 300gr BTSP flying about 2400 FPS according to my Hornady manual.

Should I roll crimp these or should the Lee Factory Crimp Die be okay?

The factory crimp die is less picky about case length, so I use it on the very few occasions that I crimp them at all. Solids all get crimped, but thats it.

Either method will work - my preference is the Lee Crimping Die.

I load for a 375 Ruger and don't crimp the soft points or Barnes. The only ones I crimp are my Trail Boss loaded cast 245 grain lead bullets. If your 375 is single shot, or a double rifle no crimp is needed for sure. If it is magazine fed, like mine, I tried shooting it with a mag full and then checked the OAL of the last round. Did this every time I was at the range. Never had a bullet move.

For the ones I do crimp, including my 45-70s for the the lever guns, I make sure I trim all the cases and then use the roll crimp, the brass lasts longer.
