.375 Kemano Makeover

If you don’t mind my asking, where did you source a new full rib half octagon barrel? I have seen them made in a good while. Or is it an older barrel you had rebored?

I was thinking the same thing. I have a Oberndorf built "Modelo 1907" it's .980" small shank. .100" longer threaded area

But I think his rifle is purpose built commercial rifle. Based off the info I found on my receiver.

"the Oberndorf intermediate action, as they are the only ones who produced it. Commonly encountered models include:
1903 Turk
1909 Peruvian
1935 Argentine
Oberndorf Commercial

The 1903 Turk and the 1909 Peruvian also share some other qualities. They both have a very high clip bridge, and a long curved arm on the ejector box that puts pressure on a stripper clip loaded into the receiver, holding it in place. The 1935 Argentine and the Oberndorf commercial action do not have this.
This type has a longer than normal receiver ring, and a longer than normal cocking piece, with a shorter than normal bolt body, hard to figure where the weight savings come in!
The Oberndorf commercial action was also available in a small ring version, all other dimensions identical.""

This is the same receiver, I built a 43 Express on the action

I was on a Paraguayan military base and I'm kicking myself for not asking if they had any old Mausers, 1907, etc on site. I doubt they would given the time that has passed but ya never know, the Ranger Lee Enfields and the recent Police Carcanos as an example. And as far as I know, the Paraguayan rifles never hit the market. The ones seen come out of Turkey where they were sent from the factory during WWI being in 7.65mm as the Turks used.

Spent some time in ‘malarial’ South America a few times as a young guy, the stuff that turns up arms wise is probably only second to the most fought over corners of the British Empire for history, diversity, and intrigue. Everything from a British proofed S&W .38 hand ejector in police service as live and loaded a bottle opener (Rio Negro, Brazil), to a fully browned Israeli Uzi (Leticia, Colombia), to single shot 16 gauge shotguns (all over the Amazon).

The one constant was I never saw any of the pristine, untouched fresh for storage guns that occasionally show up in auctions. I suspect those never made it to their countries of order, held back due to lack of payment or some other twist of history. The motley crew of guns were always shades of brown to red, and beat to hell. I’m sure they all have stories, as the ones I was seeing were on the front of the struggles over coca and extreme left ideologies.
