The 375 Ruger Alaskan sure seems like it has everyhting I woudl want...I keep wondering if it is worth having a gun built, or if I should just buy the Ruger and put a stock on it that I like.:runaway:
 
You'd be surprised how well the Hogue stock works as a platform...I've got two now, one on my 260 Rem and the other on my 270 Win. Both are sub 1/2 MOA shooters off the bench. The rubber overmold adds weight but also silences the stock while stalking game....and is very good to grip while wet. Yes the Ruger 375 Alaskan is a very nice set up for sure!

Not to mention lighter than my 338, and kicked not unlike a 3 inch turkey load... I was rediculously easy to carry (with the Leup 3-9X40, i would guess around 9lbs)
I carried it for two days in Deer season, and for a "Boomer" I've carried much much heavier standard caliber rifles...
The HS stock was worth every penny IMHO. Its light, and the mercury really soaks up the recoil...
My guide gun with 500 gr hardcasts was much much worse on the shoulder. To say I was expecting the worst, and recieved a pleasant suprise would be more accurate... In factory tupperware, I dont think I'd shoot it...
I dont need to dump a box downrange to know its going to hurt...
Stock Design is a huge part of "percieved recoil" My 300 win mag savage was worse on the shoulder than the 375 RUM in the HS stock...
and, I was shooting chilly's reloads, so ammo didnt cost me a cent... :D :D :D :D

it looks like this rem 700 is going to be mine!! it seems to be a good starting point for me . i just dont no what optics i should get. i was thinking of a cheaper luepold vx-1? i think thats what their called . i just want a decent scope that will handle the recoil and abuse that i dish out:)

i will post pics of her when i get it.

Well congrats on the new buy, you'll love it. Do yourself a huge favor and avoid the cheap scope route. A VX-ll would be worth the extra dough.
