Anyone have a bolt action 375 raptor? I realize its more of the ar10 world but would be a great black bear and moose cartridge without burning near the powder of the classic 375hh

I've thought about the 375 Raptor before here are my thoughts.

Just get a 338 Federal loaded with 180gr Accubonds it will give yo an extra 100 yards of hunting capability over the 375 Raptor.

I shoot a 14" barreled and a 21" barreled T/C Contender carbines in 375JDJ = super strong 444 Marlin brass necked down to .375 the Contender frames will not handle high pressueres like a bolt action can so even though I have larger case capacity with the 444 brass over the 308 brass I have to keep pressures down so velocities even out.

I load 220gr JFP and 225gr spitzer Hornady bullets @ 2250fps in the 14" barrel and 260gr Accubonds @ 2300fps in the 21" barrel I've shot deer - black bears - coyotes -grouse with these rifles.

Last year I also added a 14" Contender barrel in 338JDJ #2 this one also uses necked down 444 Marlin brass I am getting 2500fps with the 180gr Accubonds this little short combo is so accurate it is good on big game hunting out to 320 yards.

A 338 Federal once again a smaller 308 case in a bolt action can be loaded to higher pressures and with a longer 22" - 24" barrel should give you 2700fps bonus is it can also be loaded with up to 250gr plus bullets.

I find I grab my 338JDJ #2 far more often than the 375JDJ's now and if I had gone the 338 route first I probably wouldn't have bought the 375JDJ's.

Im planning to piece together a 338 fed as well. Completely different platform and purpose though

Ive been wanting a smaller cased 375 for a while and thought about 375 flanged 2 1/4" or 375 rimless nitro but the raptor seems appealing as well

The 375 Raptor does intrigue me, as it would be neat to have a Browning BLR T/D with switch barrels incl/ the 375 Raptor and 338 Federal.
Have and like the 338 Federal, just waiting for my 3rd to arrive!

As for another option, have you looked at the 376 Steyr?
Hornady makes brass and ammo.
Needs a long action vs the Raptors ability to fit in a sa.
Getting 2632 fps with the 260gr AB out of my 21" barrelled Ruger custom lh rifle (with full stock)

I wanted a BLR takedown barrel in 375 Raptor. There's a place in the States that makes them - but due to US ITIR restrictions, no way to get it delivered in Canada.

Would love to have two barrels for my BLR

Anyone can buy the reamer for around $200USD..... http://pacifictoolandgauge.com/340-...r-nopix-/16421-375-raptor-chamber-reamer.html

I will just stick with my Husqvarna Mauser 98 rifle in 9.3X57 that cost less, and loaded to modern pressures achieves even better performance than the Raptor.

250 gr spitzers started at way past 2400 fps are pretty amazing out to 300 yards!

Yea and my 375 H&H will shoot 250 TTSX ers at 2850 fps and ever more amazing out to 300 yards ! :p:d RJ

.358 is plenty big enough for the case and that is where I will stop... but the Raptor does quiet down those who say that .358 is TOO big for the case, and there are many of those.

I havent. Really looked hard at it for a while. Even had a buddy that would have chipped in for the reamer and another buddy also interested but i decided to go a different route for a small cased 375

I have a 9.3 x 62, a 348 win and a .338 wm but I thought it might be fun to build one of these on a blr or long ranger. I was hoping to do reamer exchange to save some money. Just testing the waters to see if anyone is interested.

Not an ar guy really but the idea of one of these on the new crop of AR 10 style non res rifles appeals to me too, but you know...

Agreed, as will my 375 H&H, but it cost a lot more than $200, weighs a lot more, and produces recoil far beyond the '57.

My point is that you can get performance equal to the 375 Raptor, which is good cartridge in its own right, much quicker and with very little expenditure.

It's the fudd factor. ;)
