Not quite a recall but it sounds like Hogue will be replacing the stocks on these rifles; models 7130 and 7179. Here's part of a letter to distributors from Hogue printed on page 92 of January's Rifle magazine:

It has come to our attention that a very small number of Hogue Overmolded synthetic rifle stocks for these firearms may exhibit weakness in the pistol grip area. In some circumstances, this can cause the stock to break in that location.

Although the problem is not hazardous, Hogue fully stands behind its products and is replacing the stocks at no charge...........

.......To replace the stock, Hogue requires the name and address of all customers that have purchased this rifle. Please provide this list as soon as possible to facilitate the replacement........

.........Your customer will be sent a new stock with instructions to remove the original Hogue stock and replace it with the new one. There is no need for the customer to return the old stock or the gun to us.....

Looks like you get a new stock Gatehouse  and this will all be handled through the retailers over the next while.

At least :onCrack: :p

I'm surprises as hell that a non wood stock of most any description would have issues. Sounds like a case of a very few maybe having voids in the material in the wrist area. And certainly being used quite a bit already with very stiff 375 Ruger loads...

And another thought here.. Seeing as how Gatehouse' retailer in this case IIRC involved the scurvy dog todbartell - I doubt that he'll be seeing a new stock any time soon. :kickInTheNuts:

I heard that there was some problem wiht the molding or whatever..a couple of stocks cracked. It's been tlaked about for months on USA gun forums.

Mine has held up fine, but I'll take a free one.:)

If Bartell ever actually gets off his ass and doe sit for me. :p

I'll sell them both and order a Macmillan. :)

I wouldn't be surprised if you kept yours as is that it would last indefinitely. Sounds like its as Hogue states it - a very few have shown issues and their QC didn't pick up on it..

BTW Gate, seriously how do you like the stock? I'm going to get rid of my previous model synthetic stock on my Ruger and was thinking of maybe going with a Hogue.

that is no way to speak to your father
