375 ruger problem

I have an alaskan model . I cannot open the drop floorplate without prying on it with a flat screw driver. I have tourqued the front screw to 95 inch pounds as was indicated on the tec tips on ruger site. still no change. What is the correct tourque setting for the two other screws on either side of the trigger guard? i must be doing something wrong, but what .....

I had a similar problem with one. When you tighen up the screws, make sure the trigger guard is pressed all the way back...sometimes it will creep forward and cause binding of the release..

Seems like a common problem, mine is the same.
I'd be totally happy with a blind magazine as I don't load and unload very often and usually only carry with one round in the mag.

You might have to do some shimming between the floorplate and/or trigger guard and stock.

I like tight floorplates, but with some of them, I use the base of a cartridge to depress the release button. Don't now if this will work for you or not.

What he said. I shimmed the trigger guard up slightly and problem solved. Try torquing down the front action screw and then slowly tighten down the rear two, checking every turn or so to see if you can find a position where the floorplate latch works. Take note of how deeply the trigger guard is set and then try and shim to that position.

I'd really like to see a 1 pc. triggerguard / floor plate assy. for the Ruger either made by them or as an aftermarket item by somebody.
To my way of thinking it would be an improvement in addition to strengthening the wood to metal fit, thus making an already excellent rifle even better...
