I've had difficulty getting the velocity I wanted from the 260 gr AB's. I would of been happy with 2700 fps, but never made it. Either I ran out of powder capacity (slow Powder) or I ran into pressure issues (faster powder). My testing was done at cold temperatures (-32) and my test powders included W-760, H-4350, and R-19. I've ordered some Hodgdon Hybrid 100V from Higginson's that I have high hopes for being the nearly perfect powder for this cartridge. The burning rate falls midway between H-4350 and H-4831, but it is a ball propellant so the loading density will be higher than with an extruded powder of equal weight, in other words, I shouldn't run out of capacity. Once the powder arrives I'll work up some loads and post the results.
In the meantime, the Hodgdon website has loading data for the .375 Ruger. The powder that did the best for us with the 260 gr AB was 80.0 grs of Winchester 760. Pressure signs were noted at 81.0 grs, and the Hodgdon site recommends 79.5 grs as maximum. No drop tube was necessary as was the case with R-19, but we had a maximum velocity of only 2600 fps from the 20" barrel. Undoubtedly the velocity was depressed due to the cold conditions, and our maximum load of 80.0 grs might prove to be too hot if used in warm conditions.
