I recently picked up a remington 700 "C Grade" in 375 Weatherby(reamed the chamber from h&h to weatherby
My question is this, since the rechamber job was done years ago, and now the collectability of this is now gone as it is not factory original. I have no issues with doing some mods to it.
I am pondering having the barrel rebored to 416 and having it chambered in 416 Weatherby
Now I have never seen a 416 weatherby in a remington 700 action, and I know the big Weatherby cals ( 378,416,460) are big pounders and want to make sure this is a safe thing to consider.
Not that I am horribly opposed to keeping it 375 weatherby, just considering doing something different.

The .375 Weatherby is the standard .535 H&H bolt face for a belted magnum. The .416 Weatherby is the big case with Lapua, .590" sized bolt face. You could easily go to a .416 Rem Mag without changing the bolt face, and all the problems with feeding and magazine capacity you'd get with the Weatherby version.

Conversion to 416 Weatherby would require a larger bolt face. Not impossible to do but it may be better to look at something like the 416 Remington or 416 Ruger if you want that bore diameter.
