Does anyone have any first hand experience as to which one is better. Looks like they are pretty much the same. I do all my own reloading so that's not an issue. I would be looking to rechamber a 375H&H. I see most places tell you to use the weatherby load data for the ackley version. Thanks guys

I have a 375 Weatherby, they are pretty much identical, the Weatherby has the advantage of properly head stamped brass and more readily available dies. I'm shooting 250gr TTSX at 3100fps.

If chambered properly I myself would want the Ouch & Ouch AI, more readily available ammo, cheaper brass and ammo, all with similar ballistics to the overpriced WBY.

There both the same, the difference is the stamp on the barrel and the label on the dies.

The AI has no headstamped brass and no AI ammo is available.

If it was chambered properly you can fire regular old 375 H&H ammo in it and it fire forms to the AI version. Of course factory made AI ammo isn't available.

The Weatherby fires regular H&H ammo as well. Like I said the Weatherby IS a Improved H&H. The only difference is that one of them is a factory chambering.

Ok. Thanks for the replays guys. I'm still in search of the rifle. I'll likely go with the ackley. Not that there is anything wrong with the regular H&H. I just like to be a little different.

I have interesting rifles in plain chamberings and interesting chamberings in plain rifles but never a boring chambering in a boring rifle, life is too short.

I had a Rem 700 in 375 AI for many years and it was an impressive performer... 92.0 gr. RL22 under a 260 Nosler Partition would send it out the muzzle at about 3060 fps.
That was my pet load and the Oehler chronograph didn't lie.

I think my Son currently has a Mauser in 375 AI, I have no idea what he is loading, just know he really likes the cartridge..

^ holy ####

How long are the barrels and what is the weight on these rifles?

That is almost .378 weatherby velocity from cartridges of the world. I can only imagine what people push that cartridge to.

Bevan King rechambered a BRNO ZKK 602 for me many years ago: 3000fps with 270g gr Partitions and 2800 with the same in 300 gr.

Remarkably good case life and no expanded primer pockets in the factory 26" barrel.

It decked moose and bears like they were woodchucks, but it was horrible off the bench!

I almost rechambered my 375 H&H to 375 RUM to get performance I didn't need, but using dies that were readily available. Then I sold the gun.

The nice thing about "Improved" belted magnums is that since they headspace on the belt, fireforming is a breeze.
