375 whelen imp./375/06 ack imp,same?

half the people I talk to say the 375 whelen imp is the same as 375/06 ackley imp. half say their different but cant say how. SO which is it?
 
Not sure about your case specifically -- but generally, "Ackley Improved" involves shortening the chamber slightly, where simply "Improving" does not.
 
.375 whelen and .375 whelen improved are not the same, whelen has a very sharp shloulder, whelen improved has a shoulder close to the 3006. Both have the parent case as 3006. Source Handloaders Manual of Cartridge Conversion. If I was to build one I would go for the .375 Whelen, not the improved by the drawings.

Question. Are they the same? Both are improved, both 40 degreed, both 375, both on the 06 case. Are they the same?
 
Only lists the 2 I mentioned, source was Ackley so seems quite possible....Look it up at a company that sells reamers.......
 
And I would agree from all I've seen, but when you get guys like Dave Kiff of PTG, a retired axpert on wildcats from pacnor etc etc tell you their different you got to ask. Now having said that,they cant tell you how,just"THEIR DIFFERENT" gets frustrating
 
If they are different it can't be by much. I like the idea of asking the guy that makes the reamers.
For what it's worth I have a Whelen Improved. Absolutely love it, as does everyone else who has one.
 
Ok, once more from the top. 375 Whelen Improved is not the same as a 375 Whelen Ackley Improved or a 375-06 Ackley Improved. Ackley Improved denotes some very specific case changes, in body taper, neck length, and shoulder angle. A 375 Whelen Improved may, or may not, have any of these, it all depends on who "Improved" it. There are various different Improved versions kicking around. Capiche? - dan
