yes, that's right.........375 whelen......

Where can I get a set of reloading dies? and where is a good place to start finding some reloading data??

Great cartridge ! You can get dies from C-H Tool & Die ( C-H 4D ? ) and they might even have them in stock.
As for load info Google is your friend.

I shoot a 375-06 Imp that my Brother built and I love it, but my load data would be a bit ' stiff ' for you.

RCBS also makes them special order..... You will have to get an RCBS dealer to order them for you and be prepared to pay dearly.....

Quite a few of the special order RCBS dies are actually in stock at Huntington Die Specialties in California, they might have but yes, very expensive.
On the other hand, C-H dies are less expensive and equal for quality.

Good call Kevan..... Huntington does indeed have them in stock......

Did not realize CH was less expensive.....

CH are pretty descent dies, may just have to go that route.
It's a ruger number 1 and will know when it arrives if it is a factory barrel or a rebarrel job but it should be a interesting hard hitter either way

For sure it will be interesting and I hope you keep us posted.
And should be easy to reload for..... you will have fun !

YD..........do you have Ackley's books? I haven't looked lately but I'm pretty sure he had a lot of data for this cartridge. I know his powder selection is old but will still give you a place to start and an idea of optimum burn rates. I have had great dealings with Huntingtons and shipping to Canada is a breeze with them. You also couldn't go far wrong using 9.3X62 data with equivalent bullet weights for starters and work up from there.........This would also give data with a more current powder selection.

I have some data, this chamber is not AI or any of the other shoulder angles mentioned but it is the standard 17 degree shoulder. will start with cast and work up the pain factor

With a 260 gr NAB try 58gr of Varget for ~2500 ft/s

With a 300gr NP try 56.5gr of Varget fro ~2350 ft/s

Varget will get you optimum burn, loads will be slightly compressed and <60Kpsi so you can lean on it at your discretion.

Also, Varget has been 'the go to' powder for the 35 Whelen since it became available ~1995

Yodave,

Send me a PM If you are still looking for 375 whelen load data. I got Ken Water's Pet Loads Complete reloading book and can send you some pictures of what he used.

Cheers,

I like the .375" diameter bullet cartridges a lot they would be my go to for everything line of bullets if I could only have one cal to shoot it would be .375".

I shoot 14" & 21" barreled T/C Contender carbines in 375JDJ, 22" barreled T/C Prohunter in 375H&H and a shortened to 21" barreled 375RUM.

I really like the idea of the 375 Whelen only reason I went with the 375H&H in the Prohunter was to go with reduced loads/velocities more equal to the 375 Whelen Improved without the expense.
