So ok guys summers here an i tinker with lever guns, mines a 375 bb xtr model 94.. williams fp, 245 hard cast coated, so can run them up there, i rn them now abot 1800 fps give or take... but its a red pad model 94 an is not a nice fit so belts ya around a bit shooting targets or groups...

i am wondering, seeing as i use it as a 38-55 wcf, im wondering if i can basically load 38-55 data with no qualms, an even then, how low can i go with this ? before it gets dangerous?

im using AR2207 , which is ummm ? H4198 ish? .,,...
im loadin 28gr at the moment for 245gr , case is well stocked but plenty of room left for more, how low without filler or do i need to change powder here anyway to download a bit better??

keen to hear, as i want to use standard cheap cast plinkers soon anyway? any help be great

*** i didnt mention, that i only intend using the rifle for 100m peep sight on large deer in thick cover, its my 'bow hunting fix' with a bang..
So i dont need the 1800fps im pushing now nor the hard cast but beggers cant be chosers, we have two companys making cast for my size... So with 150meters max in mind, sighted to hit poa at 100m, how Slow is too slow..

im fairly content with goin down the 38-55 DATA route to be honest, lowering to say 1400-1500 fps an test for accuracy?!

Well ADI give me this info, so seems no mention of a filler used for this? which is identical case for sake of question?

250 GR. LYMAN CAST AR2207 .376" 2.500" 18.5 grain 1408 fps 17100 cup 24.0 grain 1740 fps 26200 cup

Using 38-55 data is a safe procedure. I would start with a Max 38-55 load and then adjust from there.

If there is a lot of air space, I would use a magnum primer and a good crimp, to ensure uniform ignition.

I have both. 38-55 and 375. I have a cast load I use for both. I use 30-30 cases. I know anything loaded in those cases is safe in both guns. The 30-30 case is shorter than 375 so no worries about length. I have fired minimum 38-55 data in 375 cases with no problems. My 375 cases are used for full power hunting loads and 38-55 cases are used with black powder loads. Fairly easy with three different head stamps to tell what the load is.

Gday Gander,
i use a pretty hard crimp always, :)

the air space isnt huge and i will see how these initial loads go with low charges.
i continued to google alot of forums last night, marlin owners, thr, maong others were helpful with posts and topics about the 3855 in general that i picked up a fair bit from that last night!

no where really mentioned fillers which was cool.
i will see how this goes Today
