.375 Winchester

So I decided I had to have a big bore model 94 in .375, now I have to feed it!! my plan is to buy enough ammo to tie me over and then give me the brass to reload (that will be a new adventure)

So the question is where (besides gun shows) is the best place to look for factory ammo and what the average going rate? I have many guns and this one will only see a few rounds a year so a figure a couple hundred rounds should last me my lifetime lol

Cant help ya over there mate but if you don't load it thru the roof you can source 30-30 no dramas.. Good choice on the BigBore, I run mine similar to a 38-55 velocity wise with a 245gr hard cast

I really like this cartridge - not really sure why, but I do. You see brass at gunshows fairly often out this way - not sure I've seen much ammo though.

If I were you, I would start reloading right away. You may have to source cast bullets, because Barnes is the only manufacturer making
a heavier bullet for the 375, and they can be scarce. The 220 Hornady is OK, but somewhat like shooting a flat washer as far as ballistics go.
A cast bullet in the 245-285 grain weight is a much better choice, and the Barnes, .375", 255 grain bullet made for the 375 Winchester is
a very good bullet. As some have mentioned, the cases can be made from 30-30 [or 32 Special] in a pinch.

I'm in the same boat! Just received the best birthday gift ever, '94 BB, and now need the food for it. I have come up empty regarding brass and bullets so far, but my LGS (North Pro Sports) said they could order in up to 12 boxes of Winchester ammunition, 200gr if I remember correctly. It's not cheap though, was told it'd be around $80/box. I'll get them to order me a couple boxes IF I can't find any components within the next two months.

I've had four different Marlins in 375, have one now.

I do have 3 or 4 boxes of factory ammo but I have made brass from 30-30. It's pretty simple to do. I run them over the expander ball in a 35 Whelen die and then over a 375 expander. Trim them to square up the case mouths and they do come out a bit short but it's not a problem. I've even machined the tips off of 270 gr Hornadys and loaded them in the 375 Win. There's always a way.

38-55 brass can be ordered any day of the week.

No way I'd pay $80/box.

Reloading is the only way to fly with the 375.

Always loved the .375 Win & the BB '94. I also had a Savage 99 in this chambering as well. My last BB '94 shot deadly straight with Winchester factory 200 gr. Power Points as well as with the scarce 250 gr. loads. (I sold off my last 5 boxes of 200 gr. & 2 boxes of the 250 gr. at a local gunshow a couple of years back, but still have 2 bags of new Winchester brass in me stash.)

Folks using 30-30 brass to make up loads should be wary about loading them to pressures above 36,000 psi. whereas the .375 Win runs just over 50,000 psi. and .375 brass has thicker lower sidewalls and a heavier web section to handle the stress. It's best to stick with proper brass in this chambering unless one loads reformed 30-30 brass within max 38-55 levels.

My pet load for the 375 Win on game drives a 265 gr. Bullet Barn RNFP GC projectile at 1500 fps. and I sure wouldn't turn down a shot on a moose inside of 100 yds. with 'er.

A small hardware store in central SK had 5 boxes and I bought it all! Wish I never would of sold that 375 I had... Last Mountain Reloading in Lumsden, SK is federally licensed to re-load ammo and I did get a ton from him. I'd try there!

Last mountain messaged me to let me know they had some. How much did you pay at the hardware store? There's a few hardware stores around here with odd ball stuff on their shelves as well.

375 WCF always interested me, luckily I stockpiled both arms, ammo and a custom NEI 210gr WFNGC mold. 375 Marlin- WW 375- Contender Super 14/375 and Savage 99-CD 375.
