redemption mornin on a fallow, thought it was a hind an calf but not so.

i stomped around some good country early morning from first light an seen a few deer but nothing presenting or in range, totin the Model 94 again i needed ambush or close oppertunitys.

winded a few in close but scrub prevents seein them unless poppinthere head up at you.
i found this cool area, i believe a fallow has been doin it, perhaps playing, a young buck maybe.

hooroo!

good old model 94 .375 , 20gr 4198 an 245gr hard cast FN.... very old school load but seems to do the trick on deer, if i hit em!

Was looking back at my notes from over the years and what I have harvested with my old Marlin in 375 Win; 8 black bears, 2 moose and a caribou, ranging from 5 to 100 yards, except one moose taken at 226 yards with a single double lung shot (all with factory 200 gr Power Point ammunition).
About half were clean one-shot kills, where the others required follow up shots, but more a matter of bullet placement than poor performance. Surprisingly, the caribou proved to be the most tenacious of life, despite all bullets being well placed in the vitals from 80 yards.

I’m curious, what are those things with the red bead like appendage on top?

ha ha i dunno, they must be in a orgy of some sort, an congregated on the grass? i assume they hang in the trees more oftn than not? or maybe int he ground

ill ask someone who knows shortly an let ya know!

yeah interesting BlackRam. pretty neat to have hunted those with the 375win
the 200gr jacket was iffy i hear, at best. might be ok for large animals.? did u ever Recover one?
You had velocity at hand with these factorys! 2000+ fps im down in the 1500 range :)

ive only shot a Rabbit (1st animal) and then Fallow and Sambar deer, oh and one Cattle Bull for my Dad..... that was 10 yards with mine....
im interested in chasing up a few Wild Pigs in iffy ground over this summer an wouldnt mind makin bacon with the 375!
