The short answer to both your questions is Yes.
The straight wall and 40 deg. shoulder all but eliminate a need for case trimming and case life is excellent.
My maximum load was a 260 Partition over 98.0 gr. RL22, but if I recall the tightest group I ever shot with it was the same bullet over 95.5 gr.RL22.
My fireforming consisted of firing factory 375 H&H because I also had one.
I could PM you with the velocity I was getting.
 
In my Sako Fibreclass 24 inch I did better than that. The numbers do not lie - even tho it is faster than the charts say it should be.

Accurate as well.

I tend to use the 300 Sierras tho. Stem to stern in a bull moose.

I think a wonderful balance in the 375 line.
 
If you want to compare the 2, just think of the 375 AI as a .375 Weatherby. They are very similar....One of the few Weatherby cartirdges I like, actually. I almost had a 375 AI/Weatherby built, even had a donor action- But then the NEW KING was introduced and I decided it had everything I wanted in a rifle and brass I could buy off the shelf
 
The .375 Weatherby has been touted as the best balanced .375 cartridge of the lot. The qestion then, is the advantage over the .375 H&H real or theoretical, meaning can the advantage of this "better" cartridge be exploited in the field? I think if you want to get a significant jump in potential over the H&H, which does everything that might be reasonably expected from the .375 bore with normal weight bullets, the .375 Ultra or the .378 Weatherby is the next logical step, unless you want to go bigger. But even with those, their real advantage to my way of thinking is the velocity that is possible with bullets heavier than 300 grs.
 
I've had the 378, Ackley, JRS and H&H. The improved H&Hs are good wildcats, they go a fair bit faster. Do they turn the 375 into something else, I don't think so. If you need more go bigger, as in .40+.
 
Straight walls and sharp shoulders negate the real beauty of the H&H case...the slick feeding. Sure my 300 WM is a hair faster than my 300 H&H but nothing in the world feeds a smoothly as a nice 300 H&H. The 375 is a close second in slickness.

I can't imagine why a person would worry about squeezing 100 more FPS out of what is already essentially the most versatile medium bore cartridge on the planet.

Amen brother, amen. :) How much more do I need than the standard .375 H&H? I've decided that for me, it's nothing. I love the "slick" .375 H&H.
