Sorry to be asking again, but what is currently the best (or favourite) 37mm launcher out there? I am specifically looking for a launcher that would be able to attach to a railed forearm (what hardware would I need for the installation to a railed forend?) I think Cobray might be the way to go, and yes, I have been to 37mm.com but not much info on under-barrel launchers. I'd just like to know opinions on different models. Thanks for any info.

most 37mm launchers are built onto a rather large aluminium rail. this rail has a slot and holes that allow the adapter to attach to it. you would have to machine this rail in order for it to attach to a picatinny rail system.

I have contacted cobray they told me not to mill that upper mount its is a stress point for reject rounds if you want to mill it off you have a great risk of injury :)

Sorry, don't mean to hijack this tread, but where do you guys buy these in Canada? Is it new stuff or stuff that was here before the law has changed (like prohib. firearms)?

I wish i could get one...

they are not even regulated. like the M203. unlike the M203 you can still import them from the states. in the US the M203 is registered and considerede a destructive device.

So how would you attach the rail to a normal handguard? Would you just bolt it on, or do you need a special adapter for it? By the way, what launchers do you use? Please post a review (Model, Good and Bad points, etc.) Since the AR180B's are finally going to start sahipping out from Wolverine, I'm debating whether or not to order a 37mm launcher now or to wait a little while:D ..... Not to hijack this thread, but I am pretty set on getting the Rangemaster Molle rifle case for the rifle but unsure of the size of the case, if it would fit a scoped (red dot) 180B with a 37mm launcher, anyone know if it would fit?

Thanks for the help.

Is there any way of getting rid of the gap between the aluminum rail and the handguard? Does the launcher come with a mount, or does the aluminum rail just bolt straight onto the stock?

The mounts that I have seen on these things, and on my Cobray, was terrible.
Lots of lateral and radial movement, looked like it was made in India by little hands. On the front it sort of "clamps" onto the barrel, and in the rear a steel piece slips into the gap between the barrel and barrel nut, like the real M203, just not as nice a fit. I will see if I can find some pictures of the original mounts.
To get rid of the gap between the launcher main rail and the handguards/RAS you need to get the launcher up tighter against the barrel, which is what I did with the new mounts I made.
I made a new mount, both front and rear, and feel much more safe about launching plastic projo's via blackpowder. The front clamps with 4 screws onto the barrel step, and the rear slides into the gap, the same as the factory mounts, but I machined it to a much tighter fit.
Now it is rock solid with no movement.

Here are a couple pics.

Here is a Solidworks model I made of the whole thing.
The rear mount is roll pinned to the main rail, and the ring that slips
into the barrel nut gap is visible over the barrel chamber.
I also put a roll pin on the mount to align the launcher radially with the barrel nut notches.
I would like to go to a quick attach front mount, like the Knight's that was for sale on the board here, but I can't see spending more on the QD mount than the whole launcher, and I just don't trust the airsoft copy.

Ahab.

I have one of these launchers that I'm trying to sell for a friend. Only hitch is that he machined the mounting rail to match a picitiny profile. Other than that it has everything but the sights. $450, can post pics

So would you be able to attach the standard mount to a railed forearm or would you have to hack up the forearm so that the barrel clamp can fit? Also, do you know if the forearm from the 37mm firequest launcher will fit the AR180B or not?
