Hello everybody,

I just repaired the broken lever spring of my old Webley in .38/200 and I'm tired to shoot .38 S&W with it. It's a double action only (not an Enfield, a Webley!!!)... Maybe it was a modification done after war to some revolvers sold to police agency around the globe...

I'm not a reloader (it was a deal with my wife... No powder in the house ;) ) so my question is : I kept all my .38 S&W brass. Is it possible to have 200 grains lead bullet in them? Where can I buy those bullets? Do you know a shop where we can buy .38/200 in Canada?

Maybe, if we are a hundred buyers, a shop can reload a couple of thousand cartridges for us...

Thanks and Happy New Year to everyone!

Try the reloading forum. I can find 180 gr, and 250gr bullets, but not 200 so far. Then you'd have to find a friend who reloads. :D

I use 160gr RN in my S&W .38, with 2.2 gr W231. Very accurate out to 25 yds

The standard load now is 148gr, i can only get winchesters, and they suck! Let your 6yr old reload without instruction, the cartridges will be more consistant!!!! The 148 does not shoot to the sights of a 38/200 pistol, mine shot nearly a foot low. With 200gr bullets it came right to elevation at 25 yrds!

I reload mine, and have never seen modern 38/200 available, not saying it does not exist!!!!!

Try using a 160gr lead cast round nose.

There is load data for 180gr TMJ and 200gr TMJ in .357mag in the Speer Nr 11. Don't know if these bullets are still available or not.

Haven't seen any data beyond 160gr for .38S&W though.

Shooting the .38 S&W is not the same thing... It's a lot lower on the target...

If we can have .38/200 ammo, I think we will be more than 50 buyers!

I suspect that by the time you find any and pay for it, you will be more than happy to find somewhere (garden shed?) to reload. You might try contacting Henry (Budget Shooter Supply; site sponsor) and see if he can source any but it's going to be very slim pickings- do a Google search for "38/200 factory ammo" and see how many hits you get :( The 38/200 pretty much a reloader's cartridge. John Curese at customreloadingservice.com here in the Fraser Valley is an authorized ammunition manufacturer; he might agree to load some for you but you'd have to provide the dies and the bullets.

:) Stuart

I have a .38/200 mold custom made and I have 1942 38-200 ammo including blanks :)

Edit: And original packaging :)

Any chance that you can work out a deal with somone in your own area that loads and shoots the same ammo? Seriously, I think you'd find that this worked out better for regular availability instead of trying to coordinate a big bunch of folks from around the country for a special one off deal.

That could take time. I may consider EE'ing my 38-200 RN's in the future though if people seem that hard up for 'em...
