I know you can load .38 spl in a .357 Mag wheelgun, but can you do the same in a rifle. To be more extact a Winchester rifle in .357 Mag.

Anyone know?

Great. I know you can go down from up, but not up from down.

Yup, 38 in a 357 rifle is fine... Just DON'T go the other way...

Mauserman... How much clear did you need me to say it... 38 in any 357 is fine, rifle or handgun... If you read my initial post, you'll see I put RIFLE there, clear as a bell...

Cheers

Understand you fully, I just answered back in a very round-about way. F'n internet never gets tone. I wasn't trying to be dense, I was trying to be silly.

yeah, do it all the time.cheeper using .38s for plinking.what do you got ?94 Trapper?]

Yes.

Some of the 94's Winnies can be "Finnicky" about cycling the Shorter rounds though.
I had one I used as a spare when I competed. It would not cycle 38 at all.....stovepiped constantly, yet it fed 357 mags like snout !
My solution was to load the 38's to 357 length..fed great after that !
YMMV:cool:

Make sure you keep the chamber clean. Eventually, a ring of crud may start to form at the 38spl case mouth area that may make it hard to chamber 357.

Disregard if you are already aware of this.
