this may sound like a stupid question but here goes anyway , do both .38 super and .38 super comp feed and fungtion in the same chamber or is there more of a difference than the missing rim and case capasity ? From what I have been able to gather the super comp will produce similar velocity with a few tenths less powder . I haven't been loading for the super for very long and wanted to get the advice of people that would know!

I believe the chambers for these cases are identical, and it is only the extractor groove and rim that differ. However, that makes it very difficult to get the extractor set up to handle both reliably.

However, just switching to the SC brass and having the extractor and possibly ejector tuned appropriately isn't a problem.

.38 super

Thanks for the info , this is my first and likely not last open gun adventure ,just purchased it from Gunnar and it is fully possible that it was set up for s/c brass the pistol has all the goodies as far as I can tell and seems to feed and eject reliably , manualy of course , will have to try with some of the real stuff this week !
