.380 suggestions

It's impossible to say what you consider "prohibitvely expensive". If you don't have 12.6status, and you can't find one of the "restricted" Makarovs or a used gun that already has an extended barrel, you'll need to get a "prohibited" pistol, and then a new barrel for the gun, and the gun re-registered as restricted. Adds substantially to the price. You might talk to Barry Jensen at Bits of Pieces in Delta, BC about the cost of a "restricted" barrel. Maybe one will be listed in the EE here. Good luck with it.

FInd a Walther PPK like I did with an extended barrel..although they do not come up to often converted. Fun gun though! ;) Mine may hit the EE soon enough, depends on what I find for a 1911....haha

Unless you must have a .380 for some reason, get something in 9mm Para. Lots more to choose from. A lot of .380s are prohibited due to barrel length.

That said I believe there's a restricted .380 FN Browning 22 on the EE.

thanks for the input guys. your probably right the .380 is just something cool/interesting but probably not worth all the classification issues. therefore will get a 9mm

OP: Fn 1910s are cheap and delightful .380s. Nobody brought these up.

Don't let people talk you out of what you want because there's something more popular out there! I can say that, with a lot of 9mms and other "popular" items in the safe. Want cheap? Shoot .22, or an airgun maybe. Want fun? Shoot what you really want.

What fun will you have popping off some full-sized 9mm when you really wanted a cute little pocket auto, like this:

The barrel in this picture is longer than it needs to be by about 8mm. Only about half as much would stick out with the right barrel, I'll have to get some newer photos...

Walthers are also fun, but twice or three times the money, and the recoil on a .380 PPK is vicious. The Walther Forums had some scientists and engineers actually trying to figure out why Walther's felt recoil was so much worse than other pistols in .380.

Regardless, you just can't beat a PP converted to restricted, they are just so much more elegant than the wanna-be Makarov copies:

This one's a .22 but they're pretty much identical in restricted / .380...

Post a W-T-B on the EE, people have all these toys and someone will offer you one at a price you're willing to pay.

These also have a way better mag release system than a Markov witch I think is chezzy rip off of this design.

I have 12/6 so I get to have the neat stuff. I have a ppk which I rarely shoot, but will never sell. My paw is way too big for it, and once you get a couple of hammer bites the thrill is gone. My favorite by far is my Browning BDA in .380 which is a modern double stack (lots of 10rd mags available at a decent price) and excellant sights. It's just a fun gun to shoot (and with 12/6 I don't have to commit heresy and lengthen the barrel:D). But it is just as expensive as 9mm to shoot. Currently looking for a .357 round butt snub S&W.

I have an FN-Browning 1922 (Restricted not Prohib) which I enjoy shooting. 9mm is a different animal. The .380's tend to be smaller/more compact. There are a couple 1922's in the EE last time I looked.
