So, by now you may have noticed that I get some ideas every now and again. Sometimes they are weird, sometimes interesting.
An idea I had earlier was to look into starting up a competition along the lines of 3gun, but with traditional tools. Perhap something like projectile, contact, and thrown. Projectile would be stuff like bow, crossbow, slingshot, etc. Contact would be stuff like bayonet, sword, axe, spear, perhaps even some bludgeons. Thrown would be stuff like tomahawk, throwing knife, javelin, etc.
The idea would be to make up a course of fire, maybe using those foam targets for arrows, maybe using some balloons, and something like those rolled bamboo mats or some cardboard bundles. Competitors would go through the course, trying to pop all the balloons or skewer all the foam targets, with score based on time as well as number of targets effectively engaged.
I think it could be great fun, as well as having fewer hoops to jump through to set up and run. Likely cheaper to operate as well unless you break an arrowshaft.
So what do you guys think? Wanna get medieval on this? I know there's a bunch of you Red Rifle guys who have been waiting to do a bayonet charge with your Mosin Nagant or SKS.
