3x-7x scope won't zoom anymore, any tips?

Hi,
I have an old scope on my .22 (bushnell 'custom' 3x-7x ) that won't zoom anymore. Nothing obvious is wrong other than that. Before I start taking it apart...
Should I just keep it as a fixed power scope/ chuck it in the lake, or is this something that could be fixed fairly simply.
It was a cheap scope 25 years ago.

Not a simple fix!
If it holds its zero keep it as is, if not heave ho!

I'd give bushnell a call to see what they have to say. They might replace it with a brand new one. The cost to ship it to them might make it not such a good deal, or the fact that they might try to charge you for repair, but give them a ring and see!
