4.25" AR 15 barrel available?

Looking in the AR15 photo thread I came across an AR that gave me an idea. A .22 AR 15 Pistol. A .22 kit in a AR 15 uses a blowback function to cycle, and the unit is contained completely within the upper reciever when it functions, so no need for a recoil buffer tube or gas system. I did some quick photoshops and was wondering if there was an AR 15 barrel available that short that allows the mounting of the AR front site? I have an .22 Atchisson kit that would serve as the bolt.

get a smith you cut down a barrel. pretty easy. no gas to worry about with a 22 kit.

The area of the barrel under the handguard is a smaller diameter than where the sight sits, according to the pictures on Armeast's site, so the sight wouldn't fit.

any special reason why you want the carry handle and front sight? just mount a red dot on it or something

Not necessarily the carry handle, maybe just a fixed rear sight, but I like the look of the AR 15 front sight.

With a sten magwell adapter.

the kicker is that you could do it with a 2 inch barel since the AR 15 is a rifle and is restricted by name. So you could have a rifle, without butstock and with a 2 inch barrel. its not a pistol but it look like it and it cant be prohibited since its restrited by name.

Doesn't taking off the stock make it a pistol?
